Planning for BPD Awareness Month

As most of you probably know, May is Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month, and it’s going to be here before we know it.

What should On The Borderline do for BPD Awareness Month? If we’re going to plan an event, we should start doing so.

  1. when is it then? which month? are we supposed to guess?

  2. sorry I seem to need glasses!!!! my bad! x obviously I can’t read x

  3. I think we need a big campaign of some sort.. as no one I know has heard of BPD before they met me, and to be fair, I’d neer heard of it before my diagnosis either x

    • Sounds good! We’d need to get as many people involved as possible…how should we go about this? What exactly would the campaign involve?

  4. I’m PASSIONATE about promoting awareness of BPD. I’ve been in and out of psychiatric units since I was age 14 and I’m 25 now. I came across every mental ailment imaginable, EXCEPT BPD!! It was only when I was diagnosed and did some research that I understood anything about it! We need to get the word out there that just because we have a psychological disorder, DOESN’T make us dangerous or un-human!! I want to be a campaigner for Mind and do all I can to help those with BPD. We deserve it…

  5. I want to get involved!!!

How do you even go about organizing a campaign?? I’m clueless when it comes to these things lol.

    • Haha yeah, I don’t know much about it either…but if we all put our ideas together, I’m sure we’ll come up with something! Email me if you have any ideas: laurenmaynard@ontheborderline.org 🙂

We’re thinking about ordering bracelets in time for BPD Awareness Month, but I’m still waiting to hear back from the company that I emailed about it…

  6. I think bracelets are a cool idea.

The biggest thing I wish we could do is challenge the negative misconceptions about BPD… but that’s something that’s going to take a lot of time and educating the public to accomplish…But you’ve got to start somewhere I guess!

    Definitely something to brainstorm.
